December is Here!
Today is officially the start of December. Time to deck the halls and put up the tree! We've got some fabulous and festive outdoor decor ideas to inspire you. These ideas are sure to get you in the holiday spirit and get your house looking merry and bright!
TRADITIONAL RED, GREEN & WHITE
This beautiful display is full of traditional style. To create this look, use garlands wrapped around posts and framed around the door. Decorate garlands with bright red and winter white ornaments. Tie red ribbons for accents along the garlands. Pick a coordinating wreath to hang on the door. Use metal framed lanterns in various sizes and stagger them along the pathway and up onto the porch. Tie red and white ribbons on the lanterns and fill them with candles. (Tip: use battery powered LED candles for safety and convenience if you would like to have the candles lit up.) Now all you need is a fresh blanket of snow to finish off this classic look!
LUSH, NATURAL BEAUTY
This clean and simple design beautifully displays the natural greens of the season. To get this look, start with white planterns or urns on both sides of your front door. Plant small evergeen trees in both planters. Next, you will need a live garland made from pine and/or fir. You can find these garlands at your local nursery or if you're feeling crafty, you can make your own. You can find instructions on how to make your own garland here. And finally, finish it off with a lush, green wreath. The wreath shown here is a moss wreath with a white satin ribbon tied on the bottom.
This fun vignette uses some vintage pieces that bring a wonderful sense of nostalgia. Take an antique sled and spray it red for a pop of color. Be sure to rough up the edges with sand paper to keep it looking distressed and antique. Add a pair of old ice skates tied together with the laces. Stand this against your home next to some potted greenery- et voila!
